Recycle plastic on your own ?

Recycle plastic on your own ?

Plastic is one of the big challenges in waste management, in both developing and developed countries. Oceans suffer from our plastic waste the most. “Between 4.8 and 12.7 million tones of plastic enter the ocean each year, according to figures published in the journal Science in 2015.” The 3 R’s of Sustainability are important and effective steps that we as individuals can strive to achieve. Seek to reduce your consumption, then reuse the items whenever possible and finally recycle to make a new product from the previous one.

Nowadays, it is very feasible to start a recycling business to save the environment and get an income from it as well. We found a REALLY GREAT resource and community that could guide you in a journey to recycle plastic. Precious Plastic is an open-source platform that will equip you with everything you need to understand what plastics are, their different types, how you can easily, with some basic machines, transfer used plastic into a new raw material and then a product. It also has great resources on how to start a business, collect plastic and create your product. Believe it or not, they also show you how to build the machines if you don’t want to buy them ! How cool !

Here is a snapshot from their website of some of the available resources:
